Jenelle Jagmin, Health Initiatives Coordinator and Farmers Market Manager spoke briefly
a. Email list, weekly of upcoming events:
i. Hawk Island
ii. Community Gardens
iii. Farmers Market
iv. Looking for help and volunteers for the above
b. Farmers Market is moving to Grace Church parking lot…..start date June 7th
i. Looking to improve attendance
ii. Demographics show 22K people w/in 1 mile of Grace
iii. Market day has changed Thursdays from 3 to 7 pm
1. Grace has weddings and church service on weekends.
iv. Garden starts June 7th
v. 10 to 11 full-time vendors to attend each event.
2. Honey with enclosed hive
3. Non-profit booths
a. 4H
4. Mobile Gardens to schools and markets.
vi. Will fill in some of the market of missing L&L.
5) Colonial Village Neighborhood
a. Shopping Center
i. Family Dollar is moving into Hollywood Video
ii. PNC and Rite Aid have re-signed long leases.
b. LSD - Closing Elmhurst Elementary School behind L&L on Pattengill
i. Only 67 students from area attend this school, but 200 attend of school of choice
ii. It’s a PBI special interest
iii. 7th highest MEAP in the city
iv. School will not be completely shut down, and may have an undisclosed future purpose, which the neighbors are hoping for.
v. People expressed concern about lack of neighborhood ability to participate in LSD actions.

7) Treasurer’s Report
a. No change from last month $339.02
* It was suggested that we pass around a donation box at meetings
* And the next time we pass out flyers, attach a self-addressed envelope for donations. (Colonial Village did this and collected hundreds)
8) LPD
a. Now that nicer weather is here, please keep your garage door closed at all times, as this is an easy way for the bad guy to steal your possessions and/or gain entry into your home.
b. Friendly reminder that if your garage door opener is in left in your car and your car is parked outside, it could be a crime of opportunity to gain entrance into your home, by breaking a window and getting that opener out of your vehicle to gain entry into your home.
9) City Council – A’Lynne Robinson
a. Discussed the Budget Cycle
i. She discussed the issue of usage of millage dollars, and said it should be for public safety – that it was meant for officers on the street and not for new buildings.
ii. 200K millage dollars to a study and not any bricks and 450, to continue reviewing the Armory.
iii. There are 5:30 budget hearings and followed by meetings for the past few weeks.
iv. There is an increase in people are considering purchasing self-protection.
b. Future Public Hearing x2 at Foster and South Side (Hill Voca)
c. May 12th, 10 a.m. to noon 2nd Saturday meeting at Fire Station #6, will be one of the last looks at the budget for review.
i. Documents are available on city council’s web site.
d. Looking at how to increase code compliance as it relates to Public Safety.
i. People have been calling Police to get Code Compliance.
e. Moores River Drive up to Waverly Road.
i. The wall needs replacing as it will fail in next few years.
ii. 75 year product to replace wall with RIPRAP (rock) and put in bike lane and traffic would be 3 lanes no boulevard.
iii. Andy Kilpatrick provided presentation on this last month.
10) Code Compliance
a. Bellaire Drive has dumpster with a tent.
b. No acknowledgements of web complaints to City Code Compliance.
c. 2 Toilets are left out in the open on Hampton Drive
d. CITGO Gas station is now selling questionable paraphernalia.
e. There has been no follow up with empty pool on Rossiter Street
f. On Coolidge there is still a lot of “stuff” on porch. And dog on chain on front yard.
11) County Commissioner’s - Dale Copedge
a. SB 414, 415, and 981 for funds for parents with autism (only autism)
i. Additional care giving services
ii. For training
iii. Housing
iv. State employees are not eligible.
b. Road Commission, moved resolution to dissolve.
i. RC was dysfunctional and HR investigations are being litigated.
ii. Board of Commissioners were not being meet with regularly
iii. RC did survey and acted on it. BC and RC does not have documents now that they are in litigation.
iv. Governor signed bill to dissolve RC if they were appointed. And that has been acted upon. To go to full board for approval.
12) Visiting Candidates:
a. Our neighbor Ayanna Jones running for 30th Circuit Court Judge, (Judge Paula Manderfield retiring) Ayanna is currently an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.
b. A’Lynne has announced to run for 68th house seat.
c. Griffin Rivers is running for 68th house seat. http://griffinrivers.com/
d. Dale Copedge is running for 68th house seat.
13) Announcement:
a. April 21st Sat 6pm DeWitt Tri County Got Talent Contest http://tricountytalentshow.org
b. People have the mindset that if it’s on the ground and they did not put it there, they do not need to pick it up, etc… reference littering & dog business.
