  1. Lansing Police Department – Officer Jason Bock
    1. Crime Map shows its been a good month
    2. Things slow down with cold weather
    3. Things do happen near Christmas so be careful
    4. The rash of B&E’s dropped suddenly, but are still happening
    5. Putting extra effort on linking these B&E’s
    6. Neighbors are not reporting witnessed events and should
    7. Fake workers have backed-up vans to houses and clean them out
    8. If you see something please call the Police and they will check it out rather then you getting license plates
    9. 25W to 40W lights from dusk-to-dawn are recommend by LPD
    10. Lot of reports of raking leaves into streets – remember that is not allowed
      1. Misdemeanors have been filed against some Lawn Services for doing this
      2. Please report this, as the leaves are being raked
    11. Watch traffic as we are getting first snow, especial highways and larger streets
    12. Police Commission is happy at LPD’s efforts in arresting
    13.  LPD has two new officers; Jillian Colby & Dustin Villie on night shift and they bring forth a lot of new energy

        1. Citizen Recommendation of goals
        2. 20-year planning process
      2. Assess current resource adequacy
        1. Residential, Commercial, Non-GM and GM
        2. total grow of 1.4 to 1.6% growth
        3. Metro Detroit 0% areas next to Michigan are 2.2% growth
      3. Evaluate a broad set of resources
        1. Eckert – since 1954 250MW on Pulverized Coal.
        2. Erickson – since 1973 153MW on Pulverized Coal.
        3. Bell River – since 1985 150 MW, contracted to LBWL from DTE, newest plant in Michigan
        4. Renewable
          1. 15 MW Landfill gas
          2. 2 MW Hydro; 1/2 MW from Eckert and rest from contract
        5. 2018 will require obsolete plants to shut down
        6. Looking at future potential sources
        7. Aggressively persuade customers to be more efficient to reduce future need
      4. Minimize cost and risk
        1. Model scenarios, with various assumptions to determine vulnerabilities
        2. Looking for other partners
        3. Assume there will be Green House Gas Taxes which will be in affect and compare costs with out GHG
        4. Costs of coal is stable, but gas is volatile and changes in construction costs

        1. Meet future load growth
        2. Replace Eckert with one that burns coal and other sources

        1. Solar Station south of Michigan and Cedar
        2. Moores Park has one ½ MW Hydro. Just repaired it after 10 years of disrepair. Looking as 2nd unit. Other unit in Old Town may not be repairable
        3. Any stats on lighting required for streets
        4. New Wind Generators are 70 to 80 ft, prohibited from airports
        5. Working on Network Metering (aka Grid Tie) may be available next year
  1. County Commissioner – Victor Celentino
      1. Re-elected in November and thanks for your help and your vote
      2. Finance Committee
        1. Did not cut 19 persons as first thought; were able to relocate 11 persons and 19 empty positions were reduced
      3. Sadly, Agilent Airline is leaving Lansing (for Grand Rapids)
        1. Don’t believe we need to raise mileage
        2. Their flights were 97% full
        3. Cargo is increasing, but need to increase domestic travel
      4. May serve on new committees
      5. 911 Consolidation of Ingham, Lansing and East Lansing is early but may be done by 2010.
      6. Radio System appears to be resolved by new tower
      7. Complaint about the train crossing at Waverly Road
        1. 55 minute waits discussed 2nd Saturday Lansing Township
        2. The Railroad being fined is insignificant
      8. Repaving is scheduled for Waverly in spring of 2009

1)  Patty thanked the Mayor’s office as well as council members Robinson, Wood and Jeffries for their donations to the Halloween Safe Houses which were very successful on Halloween night.

    2. Dr. Otto’s had a B&E and the bad guy was caught due to a neighborhood complaint – congrats to the alert neighbor!
