6.        Lansing Police Department’s Report: Sgt. Frank Koenigsknecht came to report on crime in the area. He mentioned that larcenies in the area seem to take place in attached garages.  It is very important to keep your garage secure, including the windows.  Also, some car larcenies occurred.  The entry point was an unlocked car.  Make sure to keep your car locked, even if it’s in your driveway.  If you have items in your car, make sure that they are not visible.  Don’t provide thieves with an opportunity!  June 8th is the last day of school.  There will be extra officers present to help the kids get out of school.  When kids are out, be more careful!  Until school let’s out, if you see kids that should be in school and are not, don’t hesitate to call and report it.  The number is 483-4600.

7.        City Council report:  Council members Carol Wood and Derrick Quinney were present. They talked about the budget issues, such as golf courses, hard containers, cemeteries and other items.  483-4161 is the number to call to express your interest.  If you are interested in the hard containers, you can apply for a waiver by calling the above number.  This applies to lawn clippings. City Council number is 483-4177, and you can call them with your concerns. 483-4141 is the mayor’s number. Derrick and Carol both asked for our votes as they are both up for re-election.

8.        Ingham County Council report:  Vic Celentino was present and talked about the upcoming budget issues. County Commissioners are looking for citizens to be on the Zoo Board.  If you are interested, please call 676-7200 or visit the web site:  www.ingham.org.  There are also other boards that need volunteers.  The board office will have a list of board vacancies.  The Zoo Board usually meets at the Ingham County Health Department building on the corner of Jolly and Cedar.

9.        New Business:

a.       Angela and A’Lynne mentioned having a “taste of the neighborhood”. A suggestion was made to use National night Out in August.  More news will follow.

10.    Old Business:

11.    Good and Welfare

a.       Carolyn Condell of Riverview Estates suggested getting a gift for Randy Williams from several associations.  Riverview Estates has authorized $50.00 to contribute for a gift.  She will also approach Colonial Village, as well as Averill Neighborhood Association.  If the four of us go in together, then we could present him with a $200.00 gift.  Bill Renfrew suggested that Lewton-Rich also participate. Dr. Grasser moved that the association contribute $50 and Bill Renfrew seconded.  The motion was carried.  Carolyn will also talk to Frank Lain from Averill Neighborhood Association and Anita Beavers from Colonial Village Neighborhood Association, to make this gift complete.
