  7. Guest Speaker: Safety Precautions: Sgt. Frank Koenignsknecht
    1. Trust your instincts, if it feels wrong, then avoid it or call LPD
    2. Going on vacation?  Call LPD for free house checks and leave a number where someone can contact you in case of an emergency.  Your lights should be on a timer and it wouldn’t hurt to leave a radio on.
    3. Be careful when buying online - check their references. 60% of folks shop on line and fraud is on the rise, because people are not careful.
    4. Elderly scam (ie:  when someone wants to use your phone) is on the rise; be careful - could be a larceny or fraud.
    5. Be careful of bad weather driving --- drive defensively and allow extra time.
    6. Sgt. passed out “away from home” pamphlets and “crime reporting” pamphlets.
    7. Do not leave Christmas gifts in plain site in your vehicle; if in back seat, cover gifts with a blanket or better yet, put them in your trunk so they cannot be seen, as this makes your vehicle a target.
    8. Avoid ATM usage at night, use the drive up or wait until day-light.
    9. When driving keep your car locked and your windows up, to avoid a quick open and grab situation.
    10. When you rush you make poor decisions.
  8. No City Council report;
  9. No County Commissioner Report; asked to be excused
  10. Code Compliance Report:
    1. There are two red-tagged homes in the area.
    2. Micki’s neighbor fixed siding.
    3. Two homes Hamden Drive need work.
    4. One home on Belaire POD, grace period has expired and there is trash and debris in back yard, and they are parking on front yard.
    5. One on West Mount Hope, front yard parking and trash.
    6. Flat tires on car at house on Belaire and Hampden Drive.
    7. 597 red-tags for whole city. This issue is in news. Not trying to displace, but rather close up vacancy for safety.
    8. Property needs to be below 50% of value before “Make Safe or Demolish” situation arises.
    9. Possible to buy red-tagged house from owner, and a new red-tag ticket is issued. Houses marked for demolish, need to have discussion for purchase.
