1.                  Meeting was called to order at 7:02 p.m.

2.                  Pledge

3.                  Introductions (29 people present)

4.                  Minutes: Minutes were read and approved.

5.                  Treasurer’s report: Balance is 143.92 (a debit for the checks was charged). Patty turned over $200.00 in grant monies.

6.                  County Commissioner ’s report: Vic Celentino spoke about the mayor’s request for a countywide mileage for the zoo. There is now a task force looking at the issue of a regional zoo. The regional idea would be really helpful for the zoo. He also gave an update on Waverly Road . Phase I is to resurface from Lansing Road to St. Joe. They will take bids, and the construction will begin in July. Also, Highfields is reopening.

7.                  Murdock Jemerson, the Parks Dept. Director spoke about the zoo and the golf courses. He brought literature about various summer camps. His direct number is 483-4297. There is now a Friends’ of Francis Park group.

8.                  Code Compliance Officer: Gregg mentioned that he didn’t have a lot to report—down to 480 red tagged home. Two homes on West Mt. Hope Avenue are currently being worked on.

9.                  Frank Lain (President of Averill Neighborhood Association) talked about a committee to deal with the crime on the south side of Holmes Road . He is working with local clergy to begin working on this issue.

10.              City Council Report: Randy Williams and Joan Bauer were present. Joan brought a hand-out about the proposed budget. The mayor did not want to touch the rainy day funds. City Council was most concerned about not losing 38 city positions. So far, no one has been laid off.

11.              Old business: Mike Flaga brought up the issue of garage doors being left open (and how unsafe that is) and had a way of helping “forgetful” folks by installing this device.  There is contact information regarding a newer concept for eliminating this problem in the handouts at this meeting, and you can order this opener by mail order.

12.              Raffle was held.

13.              Meeting was adjourned at 9:13 p.m.
