Officer Jason Bock was here to report on break-ins on Bellaire. Please lock car doors to prevent car thefts in neighborhood. Always put porch lights on in the evenings.  Always call police if you suspect any break-ins or any crime.

Do not allow kids to play in leaves on or near the curbs.  It’s okay for the yard, but not near the curbs—it’s too dangerous. The LRNA has gotten a great report for safety and Jason thanks the LRNA for reporting any crimes.

New Officer, David Burk, he is replacing Amy Reel.

Team 10 meeting meets every other month.  Next meeting is October. Patti will email everyone the date and time.

  1. City Council Report – Randy Williams reported that mobile home park on Mt. Hope just past Grand Haven Manor is putting together their own association. He was assisting them.  City Council seats are up for re-elections in 4 wards. 47 people took advantage of early retirement from City jobs. Greg the internal auditor took advantage of that opportunity. Police Department is in the process of reorganizing since some have retired. Looking to have minimal lay-offs.

Approximately 1,500 people showed up for Southside event. Very well prepared and lots of fun things for family and kids. It was free.

The city council has an adhoc committee set up that meets every Tuesday night at Pentecostal Church on Holmes at 7:30 p.m. This is to see what the need is for a community center on the south side of Lansing. Everyone is asked to come out and give their opinion especially kids.  No one is turned down all suggestions are reviewed.

  1. County Commissioner – Flyer distributed – no one present
  2. Code Compliance – Greg reported that house on Bedford is now untagged and livable. Still working on garage. House on Victor now has electrical permit. House on Bellaire was tagged today due to no utilities and sanitation issues.

Should you see any code compliance issues such as cars on lawn, garbage in yard, grass that is 8 inches or higher, etc. contact Greg at 483-7620 or Ron Dishoff at 483-4380. Greg is in the office from 8-9 a.m. and from 1-2 p.m.

  2. Public Comment – Teri Carter at 325-6670, new after school program at Rich M.S. Program is for 4 hours per day to keep the kids safe and safe. She distributed flyers to everyone. Would like to propose that we allow kids from Rich after school program to assist us in the neighborhood with chores to help keep our neighborhood beautiful and this also helps keep the kids occupied.  Looking for adult volunteers to assist with homework and such.  Kids are also available to assist with passing out flyers for LRNA.
  3. Old Business – Garage sale in June was a success. Mike and Patti went from house to house and hit at least 33 houses. Got all kinds of compliments from neighbors.  Keep in mind to try it next year.

Pool party was a success even though it poured.
