1. Welcome: Meeting was called to order at 7:00p.m.

5. Treasurer's report: There were no expenditures, so we have $135.00.
6. Lansing Police Dept: Sgt. Linda Doherty-Wright: She reported that there were a few home invasions, and forced entrees. Anyone home sould look out for anything unusual. Officers are aware of it, and watching. Parking issue around the schools—principals are aware of the issue, and officers have been going out. There is a concern of parents dropping off kids, and then leaving and driving off too fast. Ask parents to abide by the same rules as kids are supposed to, e.g. not crossing between cars, etc. Also issue of kids riding through Grand Haven manor too fast on bikes, and cars going too fast. Another concern was the issue of the school buses going too fast.
General problem of traffic too fast.
Issue of backhoe parked. Joe Dardine, code compliance officer addressed the issue.
If there are any complaints, not police matter, call him, 483-4380.
Guest speaker: Brian Gaukel from the Lansing Fire Dept. Focus on public buildings, schools, compliance, and hazard sites. Showed a video on "Fire Power". Best type of smoke detector is one that is a dual type, detecting fast burning fires and slow smoldering fires. (About $30.00 at Meijer's or Target) Smoke alarms should be replaced when rating expires (3 years for the most inexpensive, 10 yrs. for more expensive ones).
Old Business:
Curve of Hampden and Hanover Dr and Belaire: Letter drafted, need for slow children sign, and addressing of speed issue. Motion made and approved to send letter to Mr. Silsby regarding the traffic issues.
By-Laws amended:
By-law meeting, amendments are in red. Chuck discussed the changes. Motion be made that changes be accepted as proposed, seconded. The by-laws will be voted on at the January meeting.
Additional board members: 3 additional board members will be elected in the January meeting. They will come from 3 geographical areas. Motion made and carried to elect 3 new members.
Articles of Incorporation:
Read a form by Michigan Securities Bureau. Chuck read the articles of incorporation. Kathy Dunbar mentioned that they could be amended with the addition of new board members. Motion made and carried to accept articles.
New Business:
Suspend Dec. 18th, meeting. Next meeting will be on January 15,2004. At that time elections will be held.
Lewton PTA meeting held on Dec. 2nd at 6:30 p.m. to address traffic issues.
Neil mentioned receiving the Neighborhood's in Bloom. Last year, he received 50 flats of flowers to plant around D. Rich. He asked for permission to respond and ask for plants, to fill out the application. Motion made to form a committee to look at planting issues. Motion carried.
Volunteers for the sub-committee were Joyce and Bonnie.
