LEWTON-RICH NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION MEETING
Minutes for Meeting on Aug. 28, 2003
Welcome: The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Introductions: Introductions were made by those present.
Purpose for Meeting: The purpose of the meeting was to help organize the neighborhood association. The discussion that followed identified the need to be incorporated as a neighborhood association, the adoption of by-laws, the election of officers and the identification of boundaries.
Association Boundaries: The boundaries of the neighborhood association were discussed and agreed upon as follows: Mt Hope, Pleasant Grove, Victor, (and including Friendship Baptist Church), and Deerfield (with an imaginary line extending to Mt. Hope, which would include the Grand Manor complex).
Structure of Neighboring Association: A presentation was made by June Kensfields and Councilman Randy Williams regarding the Colonial Village Neighborhood Association, and it’s structure. Some of the areas identified were dividing the neighborhood into areas, adapting by-laws and
developing a mission statement.
Interim Structure for Lewton-Rich Association: The board would consist of the following officers who were elected for a three-month term: Chairperson (Neil Davis) Vice Chair-person (Patty Farhat), Recording Secretary (Micki Fuhrman), Treasurer (Charles Fleck) and various committees.
Public Officials Present: Carol Wood, City Council President, Councilman Randy Williams and Kathie Dunbar.
Meeting Place: Next meeting will be held at D. Rich Middle School, Social Room on Sept. 18, 7:00 p.m. Meetings will be held on the 3rd Thursday of each month.
Meeting End: The meeting ended at 8:30 p.m.
